The international relations department:
Founded in 1988 the Department has a mission to
- coordinate international research projects and scientific programs
- promote higher education
- create data bases on international grants and scholarships
- disseminate information about the University abroad
- administer hospitality to foreign visitors and delegations to MGUPI
Our main objective is to integrate MGUPI into world educational and academic community, which will allow the University to fulfill its scientists' potential, to improve the offered educational services and widen the area of research.
The University can boast of long-standing contacts with research and development organizations and universities of such countries as the USA, Switzerland, Germany, France, Belgium, Sweden, Finland, Bulgaria, Poland, China, and Belorussia. Currently we are carrying out educational and research projects under 20 contracts, among our partners there is General Motors, Microsoft, Chemical Abstracts (the USA), Х&В Sicherheitstechnik GmbH (Germany), FOXCONN Technology Groups (China) etc. Within the frameworks of our agreement with General Motors we opened a joint research laboratory based in MGUPI. X&В Sicherheitstechnik GmbH Holding is now negotiating a project of innovative research and development center to be established in the University. Microsoft annually holds two scientific seminars in MGUPI.
Our research engineers, scientists and lecturers participate in international educational activities, delivering lectures, giving speeches at various forums, symposiums, conferences and the like. Every year more than 80 representatives of the University travel abroad to expand international research. Our professors deliver lectures in Berlin Technical University (Germany), Stockholm Royal Higher Technical School (Sweden), Paris Higher National School (France), University of Jyväskylä (Finland), Krakow Mining and Smelting Academy (Poland), Federal University of Lausanne (Switzerland), Braunschweig Technical University (Germany).
The University also heartily welcomes foreign delegations. In 2008 MGUPI hosted more than 70 scientists from France, Germany, Tunisia, the USA, China, Mexico, South Korea, and Malaysia.
MGUPI annually holds scientific and educational international conferences and seminars, appoints foreign scientists to honorary professorship.
MGUPI faculty receive international grants and scholarships of European and American funds viz. German Service of Academic Exchange (DAAD), International Council on Research and Exchange (IREX), VR (EC, Sweden), some American councils on international education and the like. The Department of International Relations carefully sees to timely informing the University chairs about new international projects and grants.
MGUPI organizes foreign internships for its post-graduate students and young scientists in leading international universities and enterprises, such as Stockholm Royal Higher Technical School (Sweden), Nantes School of Management (France), Foxconn (China), Berlin Technical University (Germany), University of Science and Technology (Hong-Kong). More than 15 students had internships last year.
MGUPI students and post-graduates also participate in the competition for the RF President's grant for studying abroad. Over the last several years 11 students and 5 post-graduates won this open Competition and studied in Canada, Great Britain, and Germany. The post-graduates had internships in Oxford, Cardiff (the UK), Heidelberg University of Applied Science (Germany), Technological Institute of Dublin (Ireland), University of Science and Technology (Hong-Kong).
Presently there are more than a hundred foreign students and post-graduates studying in MGUPI.
The International Relations Department is keen on expanding collaboration with foreign educational organizations and universities, research centers and does its best to promote international cooperation.
